Mission & Vision
Our Story
Justice101 was born out of a shared passion for justice and education by two students at the University of Iowa College of Law in 2016. Originally known as Street Law, we are now a recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering students, individuals of color, and vulnerable communities by educating them about their fundamental constitutional rights under the Fourth Amendment.
Our Mission
Our mission is simple yet profound: to teach, inform, and empower. We believe that knowledge is power, especially when it comes to understanding your rights in encounters with law enforcement. Justice101 is committed to providing accessible and comprehensive education on Fourth Amendment rights, equipping individuals with the tools they need to navigate interactions with law enforcement confidently.
Evolution and Growth
Since our inception, Justice101 has evolved to meet the changing needs of our community. Traditionally, we partnered with local attorneys and the University of Iowa College of Law Black Law Student Association (BLSA) to deliver in-person Street Law classes in schools. However, our commitment to spreading awareness has led us to a new approach. Now, in addition to teaching our curriculum directly to vulnerable populations, we also now focus on empowering law students to master our curriculum so they can, in turn, educate vulnerable populations across the United States.
Our Vision
Justice101 has been a registered nonprofit since 2020, and we are just getting started. Our vision is to expand our reach, enhance accessibility, and magnify our impact. We firmly believe that our core mission is essential for the well-being of vulnerable populations in our community and beyond. We strive to make Fourth Amendment education accessible to anyone who needs it, promoting fairness, justice, and respect for civil liberties.
Join Us in Our Journey
Join us in our journey to create a more informed and just society. Together, we can empower individuals with knowledge, advocate for their rights, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those who need it most.
Thank you for supporting Justice101 and helping us bring about positive change.
