Originally cofounded by two students attending the University of Iowa College of Law in 2016 as Street Law, Justice101 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of teaching students and young persons of color their constitutional rights under the Fourth Amendment. Traditionally, in partnership with local attorneys, Black Law Student Association members have presented in-person Street Law classes at area schools.
Justice101 incorporated and achieved nonprofit status in 2020. The organization's vision moving forward includes expanding the reach, accessibility, and impact of its Street Law classes. Justice101 is current working to record a virtual Street Law course to be used during the continued COVID pandemic and beyond. The organization believes its core mission is vital to area youth of color.
